The clearest picture your yard has ever had.
YardHelm tracks every trailer, door and driver in real time, then takes care of the work around them. Cameras handle gate check-in, the optimizer plans yard moves, reefer temperatures are monitored around the clock, and detention charges are calculated for you. It's useful from day one, and hardware can come later.

A few numbers worth knowing
Each of these comes straight from how the product behaves. Open the demo and you can watch every one of them happen.
A driver scans the QR at the gate, enters a plate, and gets a parking spot. All from their own phone, with nothing to download.
When the camera is confident in a plate read, the truck checks in on its own. Anything less certain goes to a one-click review queue.
Every fuel card swipe is checked against where the truck actually was at the time. A swipe 214 miles from the vehicle gets flagged.
Once a minute, the optimizer re-scores every possible yard move against appointment times, pre-cool holds and door fit.
Free time starts counting at the gate stamp. Billable hours begin automatically and respect the caps you set per carrier.
A plate read at the gate shows up on every map and phone in under a second, before the driver has parked.
One system for the whole yard
Most yards still run on radios, clipboards and memory. YardHelm replaces that with a single live record that every screen, phone and device works from.
See everything as it happens
A real-time map of every trailer, door, spot and truck, updated in under a second. When something changes at the gate, dispatch sees it before the driver has parked.
Let the optimizer do the planning
Every minute, YardHelm scores every possible yard move on appointment urgency, pre-cool holds and door fit, then queues the best ones. Your team stays in charge of what actually happens.
Stop losing money quietly
Unbilled detention, suspicious fuel swipes, idle burn, missed IFTA miles. These costs leak because nobody has time to chase them. YardHelm measures them, flags them, and puts them on an invoice.
Everything the operation needs, in one product
The tabs below cover the main areas. The platform page goes through each one in detail, screen by screen.
Automated check-in at the gate
An ANPR camera reads each plate, matches it to a booking and opens the barrier. Drivers without a booking can check in from their own phone using the QR code at the gate. YardHelm matches the plate, assigns a spot and marks the appointment arrived.
- Confident reads check in hands-free; uncertain ones go to a one-click review queue
- Watchlists hold the barrier and page security instantly
- Every check-in starts the detention clock automatically
Yard moves, planned for you
Yard Vision shows every trailer, door and spot in real time. Behind it, the optimizer re-scores possible moves each minute and queues the best ones. Autonomous tractors can pick up the same missions through the API.
- Live map with zones, spots, doors and reefer alarms painted on
- Move scores explain themselves — urgency, pre-cool holds, door fit
- Robot-ready mission API: claim, drive, report
Reefer monitoring with two-way control
Reefer Watch tracks every refrigerated trailer against its allowed temperature range and raises an alarm the moment one drifts. You can also send set-point, pre-cool and defrost commands, and YardHelm confirms against the next readings that the unit responded.
- Excursion alarms on every screen, painted on the yard map
- Type the trailer number to confirm — no accidental commands
- FSMA-style temperature history export for auditors
The costs that never show up on a report
Fuel swipes are cross-checked against GPS. Idle burn is measured. IFTA quarterly filings come from real miles, CO₂ from EPA factors, and legal driving clocks straight from the ELD. Fleet analytics also tells you which trucks could go electric.
- A swipe 214 miles from the truck gets flagged, with a webhook
- IFTA miles per state, recomputed on demand
- An EV-readiness verdict for every truck, based on how it actually drives
One incident center for people and property
AI dash cams flag drowsiness and phone use, with a coaching workflow attached. SOS pendants, site cameras and Bluetooth asset tags report into the same incident center, where every event is acknowledged, resolved and logged for audit.
- Safety scores and a coaching leaderboard per driver
- After-hours person detections open a security case automatically
- A lost pallet jack answers with its last-seen zone
Whatever your yard is measured on, it's covered
Safety, security, compliance, efficiency, sustainability. Different teams care about different numbers, but in YardHelm they all come from the same live record.
Compliance
- IFTA quarterly packs
- HOS driving clocks
- FSMA temperature history
- Full audit trail
Efficiency
- Scored yard moves
- Suggested dock doors
- Detention billed, not lost
- 40-second self check-in
Sustainability
- CO₂ from EPA factors
- Idle-burn measurement
- EV-readiness per truck
- OCPP charger sessions
